The Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) opened this Thursday (12) yet another administrative process – the third – to investigate the conduct related to the R$ 20 billion accounting error recognized by Americanas.
The process has number 19957.000425/2023-42, but it cannot be viewed on the website of the Brazilian capital market regulator, which means that it is confidential.
The autarchy had already started on Thursday, earlier, a process number 19957.000413/2023-18, which refers to the analysis of accounting information. The other, number 19957.000415/2023-15, refers to news, relevant facts and announcements.
The procedures may become sanctioning processes by the regulator, depending on the unfolding of the investigations.
“After the investigation and verification of the acts, facts and events, in case they are formally characterized as illicit and/or infractions, each of those responsible may be duly held accountable with the rigor of the law and to the extent applicable, and the CVM is entitled to also resort to agreements and cooperation agreements with the Federal Police and the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office”, points out the autarchy in a note.
