The president of the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), João Pedro Nascimento, said that the autarchy is studying the extension of the market’s opening hours. “Maybe we can increase the market’s opening hours by an hour or two,” he pointed out. For the regulator, the measure would help to include more retail investors, who, upon arriving from work, would have time to operate.
However, the regulator is not in favor of operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – an important attractiveness factor for crypto markets, according to him. This is because less frequented schedules may suffer from atypical activities. Furthermore, continuous operation undermines the informational regime, he explained.
During the Smart Summit 2023 event in Rio, Nascimento positively highlighted the resumption of the environmental agenda by the federal government. “We are looking fondly at the federal government’s initiative to reactivate the environmental agenda”, he said, reaffirming his motto: “The future is green and digital”.
In line with this guideline, the executive announced the regulator’s partnership in the creation of the Finance Center of Tomorrow, which should occupy the building of the Automóvel Clube do Brasil. “We have a huge opportunity for the capital market to develop products related to sustainable finance and cryptoeconomics”, said the executive.
“We approach the development agenda with care”, said the regulator, exemplifying: “We can bring agribusiness into the capital market. And also football, with the Football Corporation Law.”
