CD Projekt, best known for the Witcher series, the acclaimed Cyberpunk 2077 project and the digital distribution service GOG, announced today that it has been attacked by hackers.
During the cyber attack, unidentified persons gained access to the company’s internal network, encrypted its servers, collected certain data belonging to CD Projekt, ”and left a message about the ransom. CD Projekt released this message, in which they are threatened with leaking or selling the source code of the company’s games (released and unreleased), as well as its documents, which are related to accounting, administration, legal issues, employees, investors, and so on.

The backups of the encrypted devices are intact, and it has already begun data recovery, according to company representatives.
We will not yield to demands and we will not negotiate knowing that this could ultimately lead to the disclosure of compromised data. We are taking the necessary steps to mitigate the consequences of such a leak, in particular by reaching out to any parties that may be affected.
