Today is the World Bicycle Day. Let’s celebrate! Choose the bike, an ecological vehicle that respects the social and ecological distancing, very valid for moving quickly in the city, but also a valid ally on vacation to make small-medium and why not, even long journeys, the ideal means to explore and discover new territories. Whether it’s the first time or the experience is repeated every summer, a bike trip is a mine of emotions that requires commitment and a little effort. But it pays off, a lot. And if the fatigue factor scares you, to give a push (literally) there are the electric bicycles that thanks to the electric motor help the pedaling making it sweet and pleasant.
This may be why cycle tourism is increasingly popular. At the forefront of cycling tourism are the regions, which are using EU money for the construction of cycle paths, works capable of increasing the tourism sector and which contribute to decentralizing flows.
To reward the most beautiful every yearItalian Green Road Award, the Italian cycling tourism Oscar awarded to the greenways that the administrations have been able to enhance with services suitable for the development of this sector. From the sea where placid waterfront paths invite you to relax, to the mountains where fatigue is inversely proportional to the satisfaction of climbing to high altitudes and enjoying breathtaking landscapes. But also hills and plains, with river routes and cycle paths that use old railways now disused (such as the new Ciclovia del Sole).
In the gallery above you will find the description of the five cycle paths that have won the prize in past editions: the Alpe Adria cycle route, the Oglio cycle route, the friendship cycle route (Munich Venice), the Bike to Coast in Abruzzo and the Assisi-Spoleto-Norcia. A valid review in view of the 2021 recognition, which will be announced on June 18.
