A cyclist was restrained and attacked by six municipal civil guards from Osasco after cycling on the Calçadão de Osasco on Tuesday (2). The action was recorded by witnesses in front of a shoe store.
In images obtained by CNNit is possible to observe the team’s action. As soon as the guards approach the cyclist, tWitnesses claim they sprayed the man in the face as he rubbed his eye.
The cyclist and four guards argue until another GCM approaches with a large weapon. The guards then immobilize the man and, with him already on the ground, begin to attack him.
With that, a table and boxes of shoes fall to the floor. One of the police officers applies a “rear naked choke” and at this moment the witnesses start shouting “he’s going to kill the guy” and “the guy just rode his bike”.
One of the police officers collects the bicycle and two others take the immobilized victim away.
In a statement, the Municipal Civil Guard command stated that “as soon as it became aware of the images that were being shared on social media, the GCM command forwarded them to the Internal Affairs Department for due investigation”.
The city government also said that the six GCMs involved have already been removed from their duties on the streets and will remain in the administrative area until the investigations are concluded.
The 5th Police District of Osasco reported that a detailed report was drawn up on the case and that a forensic examination was requested.
The incident was forwarded to the court and the police unit is waiting for the Legal Medical Institute to conclude the investigations.
