The new extratropical cyclone that formed in Rio Grande do Sul has “little potential for damage” and is already moving away at this time.
This is what meteorologist and researcher at the National Center for Natural Disaster Monitoring and Alerts Giovanni Dolif explains.
A CNN Radio he stated that the phenomenon, although large, is about 1000 km from the coast and will only bring “winds of up to 60 km/h.”
“The tendency now is to move away, the winds should decrease and bring little rain”, he added.
Even so, the cold front associated with the cyclone “arrives in the Southeast, with rain and thunderstorms in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.”

According to Giovanni, the El Niño phenomenon continued to operate during the summer, with “maximum intensity” at the end of the year.
