A Florida man nicknamed “Captain Dan” has defiantly refused to abandon his boat in Tampa Bay, even though Hurricane Milton is expected to hit the area today. The man, who goes by the name Joe Sea, spoke from his boat in Tampa Harbor as high winds swirled across the sky. In a video now widely circulated online, Joe explains that “God” told him to “come out here and get a boat.” “He protects me. I’m in good shape. I’m not stressed at all,” he said characteristically. Joe stated that he will not be wearing a life jacket and can “swim in circles” if he needs to, as he intends to “endure” the gulf. “The water will come, it will rise.
