“As it is known, the Investigative Committee of the Exceptions of Naturalization of Foreign Investors and Entrepreneurs (which was established following a Decree of the Attorney General of the Republic) under the chairmanship of Mr. Nikolatos, with its conclusion submitted suggestions that, among other things, investigation of the possibility of revoking the number of passports, as well as suggestions for other actions, for a total of 102 cases.

The competent unit of the Ministry of Interior, after studying the findings of the finding, submitted to the Council of Ministers specific suggestions which the Council of Ministers adopted.

The Council of Ministers decided to start the process of deprivation of Cypriot citizenship for 39 investors and 6 members of their families, as well as the annulment of a previous decision of the Council of Ministers to naturalize an investor and a dependent family member.

The Council of Ministers also decided to proceed with further investigation of 6 additional cases, but also to put under continuous monitoring another 47 cases on the basis of the prescribed procedures.

In two cases, the Investigative Committee recommended that they be deprived of Cypriot citizenship, provided that the terms and conditions of the KEP were not complied with, ie that it was found that they did not own the investment / permanent home. An investigation revealed that they still own the investment / permanent home and therefore there is no legal reason for deprivation.

The Decision will also be notified to the European Commission “.
