Cyprus: EU Vice President Margaritis Schoinas pays three-day visit

Three-day visit to Cyprus carried out by the Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for Promoting the European Lifestyle, Margaritis Schoinaswho will have a series of contacts on the subject of Immigration, but also the Cyprus issue.

Mr. Schoinas’ current program includes a speech at a Conference on the Future of Europe, organized by the Glafkos Clerides Institute and the Wilfried Martens Center For European Studies at the Municipal Theater of Nicosia.

Tomorrow, the EU Vice President will meet with Interior Minister Nikos Nouris, with whom he will visit the Green Line, as well as EU-funded projects.

On Monday, Mr. Schoinas will meet with the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis, at the Presidential Palace. It will be preceded by a signing ceremony of an agreement between the Republic of Cyprus and the EU on immigration, which will be signed with the Minister of Interior N. Nouri.

Meetings will also be held with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, Annita Dimitriou, with the Ministers of Health Michalis Hadjipandelas, Justice & Public Order Stefi Drakou and Education, Youth, Culture & Sports Prodromos, with will discuss the latest developments in the fields of immigration, foreign relations, health, education and security.

In addition, it will hold an interfaith dialogue with the religious representatives of Cyprus.

Finally, he will give a lecture at the University of Cyprus and will get in touch with students, academics and representatives of civil society.
