Cyprus: Finally the free rapid tests for all – Conduct free of charge for specific groups of the population

The free rapid tests for all age groups of the population in Cyprus. According to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, following the decision of the cabinet on July 2, in the mobile units rapid tests operating through the program of the Ministry of Health of Cyprus can to serve only the following categories of citizens:

– Minors up to 17 years old. Children aged 12-17, who do not have the consent of their parents / legal guardians for vaccination, can get a free rapid test through the Ministry of Health program.

– Citizens aged 18 and over, who can not be vaccinated with a medical certificate, and after their application is examined by the ad-hoc committee of the Pancyprian Medical Association and the Ministry of Health and given relevant approval, which must be submitted in the sampling unit.

– Pregnant women, who for medical reasons can not be vaccinated, with the necessary presentation of a medical certificate from their gynecologist. It is clarified that from the 1st to the 7th of August, pregnant women will be able to present to the sampling units a medical certificate from their gynecologist confirming that the vaccination is not recommended. From August 8 onwards, the procedure must be followed to secure the relevant approval from the Pancyprian Medical Association and the Ministry of Health.

– Citizens who have been vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine, for the period of three weeks that must be tested as a prerequisite for the issuance of SafePass. The Vaccination Card must be presented for verification purposes.

– Citizens who have completed the vaccination schedule but wish to be tested for their health monitoring purposes or for other reasons. The Vaccination Card must be presented.

– Citizens who have a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 within the last 180 days, but wish to be tested for their health monitoring purposes or for other reasons. The certificate of recovery must be presented.

It is also noted that all citizens must provide proof of identity (eg identity card, driver’s license, passport, etc.) for identification purposes.

Citizens who do not belong to the above population groups, for the purpose of securing SafePass, can do, at their own expense, a rapid antigen detection test in private clinical laboratories or pharmacies.

It is pointed out that according to Decree no. 32, of July 30, 2021, from August 1, the maximum charge price for the rapid antigen test is set at 10 euros.
