Cyprus is gradually returning to normalcy

Cyprus is taking a decisive step towards normalcy today as new relaxation measures to control the coronavirus pandemic enter into force.

As of today, the compulsory use of a mask outdoors is abolished in Cyprus, while the daily life of the citizens changes in terms of the obligation to display Safepass when entering indoors. According to the relaxations, as of today, the obligation to show proof of vaccination or recovery for employees and for citizens visiting public or semi-public services is abolished. The obligation for a safepass demonstration will weaken even more since from next Monday no safepass will be required for entry to retail stores and shopping malls with the obligation to be limited in terms of entry to entertainment centers and restaurants.

Relaxed Easter due to vaccines

New data are also coming in for the release of people who are restricted as positive incidents since they will now be released on the 7th day of self-restraint, without a test. At the same time, government decisions include reducing the quarantine period from seven to five days for people who are in close contact with a confirmed positive incident.

The decisions to relax are related to the start of the Easter celebrations which will be made without suffocating restrictions after two years. The path to normalcy was charted by the hospitalization index, which, in contrast to the new cases, is declining daily. The decrease in hospitalizations despite the increased cases, according to the scientific team for the management of the pandemic, is related to the percentage of vaccination in the country, which exceeds 80%.
