The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis and the President of Israel Isaac Herzog referred to the strategic relationship developed between Cyprus and Israel during their meeting this morning at the Presidential Palace in Jerusalem.
In the morning, President Anastasiadis went to the Presidential Palace, accompanied by members of the Cypriot delegation, where he was welcomed by the President of Israel, with whom he attended a private meeting, which was followed by extended talks between the two sides.
During their meeting, the two leaders underlined the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, which are of strategic importance. They also referred to the great contribution of the tripartite cooperation mechanisms for achieving peace, stability and security in the region. They also discussed the efforts of their countries in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic and ways of cooperation between Cyprus and Israel to this end.
President Anastasiadis briefed his Israeli counterpart on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and the ongoing Turkish challenges both in the Cypriot EEZ and on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
Mr. Anastasiadis is accompanied in Israel by the Ministers of Defense and Agriculture, the Government Spokesman, the Deputy Minister of Research and officials.
