The resignation was submitted by the so-called government of the “prime minister” of the pseudo-state Faiz Suzuoglu, after a fierce confrontation with the so-called Minister of Finance, Sunat Atoun.
The two-day confrontation between the two men began with decisions on price increases for basic necessities, as well as the Turkish Cypriots’ general difficulty in meeting the cost of living, and culminated in announcements about the price of electricity by the pseudo-prime minister. The latter was in favor of reducing the price, while Atun publicly expressed his disagreement.
Just two months after the formation of the so-called Occupied Government, the political scene is once again entering a period of uncertainty, while according to information, the Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, before accepting the resignation of the members of the group, had consulted Ankara.
Suciuoglu, leader of the National Unity Party, had sent a letter to Ersin Tatar asking him to oust Atun, but the Turkish Cypriot leader did not do so and said he would assess the issue.
