Cyprus: Outdoor catering

Restoration of 25% of the staff that comes with a physical presence in the companies, operation of the outdoor restaurants with strict protocol and suspension of the physical presence of the Gymnasiums for the next two weeks, announced the Minister of Health Of Cyprus Konstantinos Ioannou.

In a press conference he gave today, he referred to the particularly burdensome epidemiological picture presented by the city of Limassol, as well as the increased admissions to hospitals, which resulted mostly from concentrations in the family environment and workplaces, reports APE-MPE.

So from Tuesday 16 March and valid until 31/03/2021:

  • 25% is restored to service companies by updating the weekly rapid testing program, to 25% of the employees of these companies and at the same time strengthening the supervision and controls.
  • Considering that children are carriers with an increased risk of transmission / dispersion and delay in their detection as they are mostly asymptomatic, with the inability to impose diagnostic tests, making the silent carriers at risk of spreading the virus with increased serum in the Primary Schools of the District of Limassol there are many chains of cases, It was decided to suspend the operation of Primary Schools in the District of Limassol with the physical presence of students until March 31.
  • The suspension of the physical presence of the Gymnasiums on a nationwide basis is extended for the next two weeks (until 31.03.2021), in order to prevent outbreaks cases.

In terms of measures aimed at increasing the compliance of the world and at the same time the psychological recovery of citizens:

  • From Monday, March 15, access to squares and parks is allowed up to 6 people with mandatory use of masks by people from different households.
  • Access to picnic areas and dams is allowed only on Shrove Monday 15 March.
  • They work again from Tuesday 16 March only the outdoor areas of the dining areas, with strict protocol to be published, in compliance with distance measures and sanitary instructions.
  • The curfew will be moved from Tuesday 16 March from 9 pm to 11 pm.

The Minister of Health stressed that the government is listening to the strong concerns of experts that psychological fatigue is pervasive throughout society after a year in unprecedented and difficult conditions, and that the measures may not have worked due to this fatigue.

“The bet we have ahead of us is to bring together all the concerns and find the golden section so that we can move towards the end of this health crisis, safely,” he concluded.
