Cyprus: Record number of cases, with 5,048 infections, and two deaths at the end of the year

Two deaths and 5,048 new cases of coronavirus were announced today by the Ministry of Health of Cyprus, which in its relevant announcement points out that the positivity index stands at 2.98%. Extremely high and the number of diagnostic tests performed in the last 24 hours and “reaches” 170,000. Specifically:

– 2 people died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 638.

– 180 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 79 are in serious condition. 85.48% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

– 18 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be treated intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

– A total of 169,476 disease detection tests have been performed with the molecular method (PCR) and the method of rapid antigen detection (antigen rapid test).

– 5,048 (positivity rate: 2.98% new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests (antigen rapid test), bringing the total number of cases to 166,827.
