The candidacy of the President of the Democratic Alarm, Averof Neophytou, for the position of the President of the Republic of Cyprus was confirmed at a meeting on Sunday morning by the Supreme Council of the ruling party of Cyprus.
The event began with a minute of silence, dedicated to the victims of the war in Ukraine, while members were handed small ribbons in blue and yellow, which they put on their lapels, in support of the Ukrainian people.
At the beginning of the event, a video was shown dedicated to the history of the Democratic Alarm, from 1976 until today, the work of G. Clerides and historical figures as well as a video-tribute to the current president of DISY A. Neophytos.
The ratification took place through a handshake at the “Eleftheria” stadium, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Annita Dimitriou, members of the cabinet, MEPs, MPs and party members.
