The staff of the independent candidate for the presidency was attacked with stones by strangers Cypriot Democracy Nikos Christodoulidis in Limassol resulting in serious damage.
In a statement issued by the office of Mr. Christodoulidis, it is stated:
We express our regret for the incident and call the entire Cypriot people to unity regardless of who they support, who they vote for and from which ideological-political area they come from. The challenges for our country are many and the next day must find us united.
Divisive discourse and toxicity unfortunately encourage this kind of behavior, which is not appropriate in a democratic, modern, European country, nor in our culture.
We will continue to walk away from pointless, barren and dangerous confrontations, presenting our positions and proposals. We continue our pre-election campaign wisely, with political ethics and dignity.
The staff will make a report to the Police to investigate the incident.
