With 132 votes in favor and one abstention, the Central Committee of the Democratic Party, which met today, with the exclusive topic of the 2023 Presidential Elections in Cyprus, approved the proposal of the Executive Office of the party, in support of the independent candidacy of Nikos Christodoulidis .
The meeting began with a speech by the president of DIKO Nikola Papadopoulos, who pointed out that DIKO “has received the messages of society and has the courage and boldness to act in response to these messages” and added that “society sees in “Nikos Christodoulidis is a different, independent candidate who unites and does not divide, who serves her own priorities and not the party agendas. He sees in his face hope.”
Mr. Papadopoulos also stressed that “in view of the acceptance of the political proposals of DIKO, the way is opened for an honest and productive cooperation with Nikos Christodoulidis”.
He also pointed out that “these proposals, together with the proposals of Nikos Christodoulidis, can be a progressive governance program that will bring change.”
According to a relevant announcement of the party, he added that “this program as well as its quality characteristics allow us to give this electoral battle with all our strength”.
The positions of the members of the Central Committee followed and the meeting ended with a vote.
