CZ apologized to the court for his decisions

Former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Binance Changpeng Zhao sent a letter to Judge Richard A. Jones, who is overseeing his case. This is reported by CoinDesk with a link to the document.

It is understood that CZ apologized for his “bad decisions” and took full responsibility for his actions. He said this would be his “only encounter with the criminal justice system.”

“There is no excuse for my failure to establish the necessary compliance controls at Binance,” the former head of the exchange wrote.

Changpeng Zhao also said that in the future he would like to support biotech startups and youth.

It should be noted that friends, relatives and loved ones of CZ also addressed the judge. They sent 161 letters “asking for leniency.” The defendant's sister said her brother has made mistakes, “but he lives to do good for others.”

Binance co-founder Yi He wrote:

“If the cryptocurrency industry can be compared to the Wild West, then Zhao is the guardian of this wild nature. Even the US has not decided how to regulate and define this industry. As a founder who had never run a company of this size, he was confident he would run into blind spots.”

CZ's wife gave the example of Binance donating tens of millions of yen to disaster-stricken areas in Japan in 2018. Zhao's children wrote jokes about their father supporting them and asked the judge not to define Zhao's character based on this one incident alone.
