The West should cut off Russia from the Swift system for international interbank trading, because otherwise Ukraine will fall within a few days, Czech President Milos Zeman warned his NATO counterparts in the east.
“We have two options. Either we exclude Russia from Swift, or we will watch the full occupation of Ukraine by Russia within a few days,” said a statement posted on the presidency’s website. “I am in favor of the first choice,” he added.
Earlier, the Czech government announced that it would ban Russian airlines from flying to the country from tomorrow, Saturday. Transport Minister Martin Kupka said that the Czech Republic was coordinating its actions with Poland and that the ban would stop the flights of Russian aircraft from Moscow and St. Petersburg to Prague and vice versa.
