The Czech Republic has recorded more than 20,000 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the largest increase in a day since December 1, the Czech Ministry of Health announced today.
The country of 10.7 million people in central Europe is preparing for a new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic as the Omicron variant of the new coronavirus begins to increase the number of cases.
The Czech government has reduced the period of quarantine and isolation as part of new measures it has taken, while at the same time starting this week the mandatory submission of diagnostic tests for the new coronavirus of the employees in the companies.
In the past 24 hours, the Czech Ministry of Health recorded 20,270 new cases of coronavirus, compared to 7,342 recorded last week.
The number of hospitalizations, which had risen to more than 7,000 in early December in the most recent wave of the virus faced by the country, yesterday stood at 1,660, marking a slight increase since Sunday.
