A crowd of people gathered on Saturday in Wenceslas Square in Prague, participating in a demonstration under the general slogan “The Democracy of Czech Republic against poverty”.
They waved national flags and shouted slogans with which they were calling on the liberal-right government to resign.
Protesters they accused the government of Prime Minister Petr Fiala of not doing enough to fight inflation.
At the end of the rally, some of the protesters went to the National Museum, located in the square, and demanded that the Ukrainian flag on the building be replaced with the Czech one.
Among the protesters’ demands, which were also circulated on social networking sites, are; take steps to lower energy prices and stop arms deliveries to Ukraine. The government in Prague should take a mediating role in the war, they added.
Although they were in favor of continuing the aid to Ukraine, they asked that it be humanitarian and not military.
Counter-protesters with Ukrainian and NATO flags on the other hand held placards with slogans against Vladimir Putin.
