The transition to a “more social” Greece, underlined the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Michailidou, during her speech today at the NSRF Development Conference 2021-2027 in Kalamata, describing all the new policies of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs for the new NSRF period 2021-2027.
As Ms. Michailidou characteristically stated, “for our Government, the strengthening of social and fair protection is a national priority. There is no greater proof for this, from the fact that 5.3 billion euros of the new NSRF are related to social investments” . The Undersecretary stressed that “out of the 5.3 billion euros, we are committing 1.3 billion to support all our vulnerable fellow citizens, from children to the elderly, people in precarious conditions, people with disabilities. Ms. Michailidou stated that the actions concern the areas of child protection, the strengthening of financially weak households, people with disabilities and the elderly.
More specifically, for child protection:
· Deinstitutionalization through support for professional sponsorship and support services for sponsors and biological families of children.
KDAP STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) for all children aged 12-15 years, where through the sciences, technology, engineering and robotics, creative employment activities will be offered with the aim of making the best possible use of free time their.
· Day camps for sports and cultural activities for vulnerable children.
For disabled:
· Personal assistant.
· Supported employment with a focus on young people on the autism spectrum.
· Early diagnosis and early intervention home program.
For financially weak households:
Activation of the third pillar of employment for the beneficiaries of the Minimum Guaranteed Income.
· Creation of mobile community centers, so that the State approaches the vulnerable and supports him directly.
For senior citizens:
· Ensuring and optimizing the services of the Day Care Centers for the Elderly (KIFI), so that they do not move away from their family environment.
· Familiarity activities for the elderly with technology and digital services to facilitate everyday life within the community.
· Development of a National Strategy for active aging.
The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Michailidou, stated that “we work intensively to ensure the rights of all our vulnerable fellow citizens.
