“We are implementing a new, modern and effective control mechanism for the effective control of the welfare structures of our country”, said the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Michailidou, regarding the new control process that has started to be implemented in December and will be completed in the whole territory in mid-February.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, “for the first time, at the initiative of the Undersecretary, in cooperation with the National Transparency Authority (EAD), the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice, mixed scales have been set up to conduct structures for minors, people with disabilities, but also in care units for the elderly.
The purpose of this innovative control mechanism is to proceed with both the administrative control of the structures and the thorough medical evaluation of each guest individually. For this reason, doctors, psychiatrists, medical examiners and social workers specialized in abuse participate in these steps, together with the inspectors of the EAD.
The conclusions of the first round of audits will define the new framework for effective control of the welfare structures of the country “.
Ms. Michailidou stressed: “The state control mechanism for social structures is decentralized. The Regions are the ones that have the responsibility of control both in terms of administration and in terms of quality of service. So we noticed that the object of the controls so far was legally limited and did not meet the services we want to provide to our vulnerable fellow citizens, so we immediately proceeded to change the legislation and, now, we leave no room for faulty controls, but we did not stop there. Transparency, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice, for the first time, we have created mixed control scales to ensure the living conditions and health of all beneficiaries hosted in the structures. everyone”.
For his part, the Commander of the National Transparency Authority, Angelos Binis, noted: “Strengthening the framework for monitoring the efficient operation and quality of services provided to guests in the welfare structures of the country are operational priorities for the National Transparency Authority. For this reason, we are actively participating in the relevant plan of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs “.
