D. Michailidou: We actively support the vulnerable

“We actively support the vulnerable” stressed, among others, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Michailidou, inaugurating at noon the municipal nursery and kindergarten of Eordaia, inside the “Bodosakeio” hospital, in Ptolemaida.

Ms. Michailidou pointed out that the government takes care of the upgrading of social services “for all the vulnerable and among them for the children”, clarifying that this concerns not only the children who need social protection, or are housed in structures and in institutions, but also all children, regardless of family income, or region of the country in which they reside.

He stressed, in particular, that more preschool children will benefit from the “Hive” program of the Ministry of Labor, which concerns new places for infants and toddlers in kindergartens across the country, by strengthening them with properly trained staff and all the necessary scientific tools for the safe stay and creative engagement of children, so that they can develop their creativity and skills, as well as the “early diagnosis” of mental, learning and psychosocial difficulties in children, in order to improve their functionality.

In particular, he referred to prevention and care actions for the elderly, to structures and institutions in the pandemic, from the very first days of the appearance of the coronavirus and by order of the Prime Minister and added that Greece did much better than other European countries in this area. He noted, in fact, that the country is in the last place among the EU countries. regarding pandemic victims in nursing homes.

In addition, as announced by the Deputy Minister, the prefecture of Kozani is among the areas that will be included in the second phase of the pilot program of “Personal Assistant”, in order to receive support for people with disabilities living in the area and their families. He noted, finally, that school meals in the prefecture are provided normally and will also continue smoothly, after the renewal of the relevant contract.

The Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, MP from Kozani, Michalis Papadopoulos, praised the work carried out by the government, especially in the fields of health and social policy, congratulating the competent ministers and the local government for overcoming the bureaucratic problems and establishing kindergarten, inside the hospital.

The local MPs, Efstathios Konstantinidis, Paraskevi Vryzidou, Georgios Amanatidis (SW) and Kalliopi Vetta (SYRIZA), the commander of the Bodossaki Hospital, Stavros Papasotiriou, also greeted. The region of Western Macedonia was represented by the vice-regional leaders, Aikaterini Dadamogia and Grigoris Tsioumaris.

The mayor of Eordaia, Panagiotis Plakentas, referred to the usefulness of the municipal kindergarten of Eordaia, which has been providing its services since the autumn of 2021, emphasizing that it serves not only the children of the hospital staff but also the children of the city and the surrounding area. . He thanked for the cooperation the co-responsible ministries, the Deputy Minister Domna Michailidou and the region of Western Macedonia.

The consecration was performed by the Metropolitan of Florina, Prespa and Eordaia, Mr. Theoklitos and the inauguration of the Eordaia kindergarten followed by the Undersecretary.

Ms. Michailidou will tour Kozani and Florina, where she will have meetings with local authorities and officials, while in the afternoon she will visit the autism structure “Travelers of Hope”, in Argilos, Kozani and in the evening she will have a meeting. with the children and the administration of KDAP MEA “Access” in Florina, where special care is provided, respectively, to children with autism and children with disabilities, aiming at their smoother student and social integration.
