The triptych climate, energy, competitiveness (especially of industry) was described by the president of SEV Dimitris Papalexopoulos as key priorities for the next period, in his speech immediately after his re-election to the presidency of the Association in the general assembly that takes place today.
In particular, he stressed the need to emphasize this triptych “for a successful green transition, in the knowledge economy through innovation and digitalization, and the connection of entrepreneurship / research with universities”, emphasizing that BSE has signed 7 cooperation agreements with universities and research centers. He also referred to the strengthening of training, and retraining (Upskilling / Reskilling) in modern techniques and the horizontal skills of the human resources through practical initiatives.
“At BSE,” he said, “we strongly believe in the country’s ability to grow sustainably and create opportunities for society. We believe that companies can play a crucial role in this. Achieving this vision requires – of all of us – changes and cuts: to develop and produce modern products and services with innovative spirit and subversive ideas, to open beyond our borders, to invest in people, knowledge and skills, in better jobs, to work together with the state “To put in the DNA of our economy the sustainability, the dynamism, the continuous evolution. This vision aspires to serve BSE”.
Following the elections, Ms. Peggy Antonakou of Google SE Europe, Ms. Nagia Kalogeraki of Coca-Cola HBC AG (CCHBC) and Ms. Asimina Tzika, of the ELVIAL aluminum industry, will join the Board of Directors of SEV. Changes were also made in the composition of the 90-member General Council, which includes representatives from 7 technology companies / start-ups, the participation of women is strengthened, while the participation of companies from the region is strengthened with 15 representatives.
Last year’s report was made by the chairman of the Executive Committee of SEV, Efthymios O. Vidalis and the general manager Alexandros Hatzopoulos.
In the second part of the General Assembly, the leader of the Official Opposition, Alexis Tsipras, will speak to the members of SEV. The open event will follow in the afternoon, in the presence of the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou. The event will include speeches by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the president of SEV, while a discussion will follow between them about the great challenges of the time.
