Federal deputy Carlos Alberto da Cunha (PP-SP), known as “Delegate Da Cunha”, was accused of attacking and swearing at nutritionist Betina Grusiecki, a companion with whom he has lived for three years in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo.
A CNN had access to the police report made by the woman on the 15th, in which she accuses the parliamentarian of bodily harm, threats, insults and domestic violence. Betina was contacted to provide more details about the case, but did not respond.
Da Cunha denies the accusations and said, in a statement, that the discussion took place “in the midst of celebrating his birthday, but at no point did any type of physical violence occur on his part.”
According to the police report, after consuming alcoholic beverages, Da Cunha began an argument with the woman. During the fight, he allegedly called her “p***** and trash”, stating that she “is useless”.
Report of assaults
In her statement, Grusiecki reports that she was attacked and that the parliamentarian even hit her head against the wall, holding her by the neck. The nutritionist also reported that she fainted after the attacks.
Still in the Civil Police document, the nutritionist reported that when she woke up, she tried to react by throwing a hairdryer in the parliamentarian’s direction. Afterwards, he allegedly hit her head against the wall again and threatened to kill her.
“I’m going to shoot your head with bullets, I’m going to kill you and I’m going to kill your mother,” according to the woman’s statement. Finally, Grusiecki reported that da Cunha broke her glasses and threw bleach on her clothes.
History of controversies and allegations of aggression
Before being elected federal deputy for the PP, in 2022, Da Cunha gained notoriety as a YouTuber, publishing videos showing police operations. The publications reached more than 11 million views. One of them was even staged, which was confessed by the police officer years later.
In 2021, Da Cunha was removed from the Civil Police and said that he was the victim of internal persecution within the corporation for defending the ideals of a less truculent police force.
This is not the first time that the parliamentarian has been accused of assaulting a woman. In 2016, his ex-wife filed a police report reporting that the police officer had threatened to kill her. Years later, the complaint was withdrawn.
