Daikin is steadily investing in research and innovation, with the establishment of a pioneering new research and development center in Europe. According to an announcement, the company is setting up a new, environmentally friendly and energy-neutral research and development center in Zwijnaarde, Belgium, which is expected to open in 2024.
According to the current planning, the offices will be approximately 13,000 sq.m. and will provide space for about 500 employees. About 380 employees are expected to be employed at the new EMEA Development Center by 2025. The total cost of the investment is expected to reach 140 million euros.
Significant resources will also be spent on Daikin’s European Development Center (EDC) which, through its research work, aims to consolidate the company’s position as a pioneer in the research and development of the global heating market by providing innovative HVAC-R solutions that meet the most modern environmental requirements. With extensive experience in developing state-of-the-art heating solutions, EDC is currently Daikin’s core development center for testing and developing new heating technologies and products for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMAA).
To create this center, Daikin has invested almost 13 million euros in technology and infrastructure, while constantly upgrading existing facilities with new high-tech test sites. EDC also plays a key role in researching and developing energy-efficient solutions that differ from traditional heating solutions, thus responding to the challenges posed by global population growth and urbanization.
