Daimler Truck plans to remove 5,000 jobs in Germany by 2030, the US today announced. According to a company spokesman, the factory will be mainly affected by the Laisfelden – Ehterdingen factory near Stuttgart, while jobs will be reduced mainly through retirement, but it is not excluded that voluntary exit program is implemented. At the end of 2024, 28,000 people worked at the factory with all Daimler Truck employees in Germany amounting to 35,000. The company has recently suffered a major reduction in its sales, partly because of the uncertainty surrounding US tariff policy. During the second quarter of the year, sales from the Laifelder – Ehterdingen plant reached 38,600 vehicles, by 20% less than the corresponding period of 2024.
