Dakota Johnson reveals frustration with industry: “The tolerance for assholes”

The actress Dakota Johnso n, 35, criticized the film industry during the world premiere of its new comedy, “Splitsville” at the Cannes Film Festival, on Monday (19). She, in addition to starring the feature, signs the production through her company Teatime Pictures, revealed the reasons that led her to become a producer.

“Much of why I wanted to found a producer and make my own movies is because I want more of this industry. I want more of my experience as an artist. I felt thirsty for more conversation, more creativity, more collaboration,” she said in an interview with Variety.

The star admitted that she felt frustrated by participating in projects in which she lost creative control.

“Sometimes, as an actress, I found myself going to the premiere of a movie to watch it for the first time and thinking, ‘Wow. That’s not what I thought we were doing.’ That’s a very weird feeling,” he said.

In “Splitsville “Dakota plays a woman living a marital crisis, amid tragicomic situations. Behind the scenes, the protagonist of the“ fifty shades of gray ”saga has also tried to transform the work dynamics.

“The way we set up our sets is very based on the vibe. In energy. It is a rigorous policy of zero tolerance for assholes . We also make a point that all the people on the team know exactly what we are doing so that everyone feels part of it. ”

The artist believes that this is necessary to maintain a healthy environment in the midst of the filming marathon. “Working with cinema… The hours are long and exhaustive. It’s not comfortable. It’s not pleasant. But when you feel you’re really involved in something, people are happier and work better.”
