O CNN Specialist in management and business Daniel Castanho spoke about how financial issues can affect individuals and companies and disrupt decision-making.
“If we’re in financial trouble, we can’t think of anything else. The urgent takes precedence over the important,” he explained.
This issue happens to companies as well. Castanho said that “when you are just putting out financial fires, you cannot rethink your business and find other alternatives.”
When debt already exists, it is necessary to establish which investments will give a greater financial return and leave riskier things for a future moment.
Castanho also stressed the importance of being transparent with his team, showing the problem and trying to find a solution together. Also, looking for someone you trust outside the company is also worth it.
“The whole team’s internal look and a trusted external look can help solve problems,” he said.
