Daniel Craig 56, told the international press that he could not have made a film like “Queer “, which premiered in cinemas on Thursday (12), during the period in which he played 007. “It would seem reactionary, as if I were showing my ‘power’”, he declared, generating controversy with the statement.

However, in an interview with CNN he clarified the comment. “Actually, that’s not why I couldn’t have done it. I mean, I couldn’t have done it for personal reasons, because it would have been uncomfortable for me to make a film like that, not because the two things would have clashed,” he explained.

According to Craig, he wouldn’t have made the film at the same time because it would have seemed like would be trying to prove a point . “And I’m not interested in that,” he added.

In an interview with The Times of London, the star also commented: “It’s just not a conversation I wanted to have. Anyway, I knew everything about Bond. Was there room for this Bond? For this bond? Something that could inflame this discussion? No, life is too short”, he concluded.

Craig has received career-best praise for “Queer” since the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival this year.

While dealing with addiction, Lee also embarks on an intense journey of discovery about his sexuality when he becomes involved with young Eugene, played by Drew Starkey (“Outer Banks”).
