The expectation of the new president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Daniella Marques, to replace the employees of the “hard core” that helped shield former president Pedro Guimarães from accusations of harassment, and the new president of Petrobras, Caio Mário Paes de Andrade, who did not attend the first meeting with the state-owned company’s Board of Directors (CA), are among the highlights of this Thursday (30).
Daniella Marques should change Guimarães hard core at Caixa
Members of the Caixa Econômica Federal leadership told the CNN that the now ex-president of the bank Pedro Guimarães had a hard core of allies within the structure of the bank that helped to shield him from accusations of harassment.
The expectation in the government is that the new president of the bank, Daniella Marques, will replace all or at least part of them.
The names mentioned were Camila Aichinger, Vice President (VP) of Retail Network; Celso Leonardo, VP of Wholesale; Carlos Vagos, Alvaro Pires and Cleyton Carregari, childhood friends and special advisors to Guimarães; and the chief of staff, Rosana Guimarães.
“There are isolated cases” of corruption in the government, says Bolsonaro
President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said for the first time this Wednesday (29) that there are “isolated cases” of corruption in the government. During the National Industry Confederation event, Bolsonaro said that despite this, there is no endemic corruption.
Until then, the president used to say that there were no cases of corruption, despite suspicions involving overpricing in the purchase of vaccines and deviation from the rapporteur’s amendments, for example.
The change in the president’s speech comes a week after former education minister Milton Ribeiro was preventively arrested. He is accused of influence peddling and passive corruption, in a scheme that negotiated bribes in exchange for the release of funds from the MEC.
Paes de Andrade misses the first meeting of the Petrobras Board
On his second day of work, the new president of Petrobras, Caio Mário Paes de Andrade, did not attend the first meeting with the company’s Board of Directors (CA).
The meeting held virtually was scheduled for 9 am this Wednesday (29) and dragged on until late afternoon. As a counselor, he had been called to participate alongside his ten peers on the collegiate.
The meeting discussed the company’s internal issues, such as the results of the medical service, the compliance policy and the review of Petrobras’ strategic plan. At one point in the meeting, when it was found that Paes de Andrade would not participate, the government nominees tried to justify his absence.
Caixa says it investigates allegations of sexual harassment at the institution
Caixa Econômica Federal confirmed this Wednesday (29) that it received, through its whistleblowing channel, reports of sexual harassment at the institution, but without mentioning the name of the bank’s former president, Pedro Guimarães.
According to the note released by the bank, the investigation is being carried out in secrecy, within the scope of the Corregedoria, “which is why it was not known to the other areas of the bank”.
The note also says that, as part of the ongoing internal investigation, opened in May 2022, contacts were made with the complainant, who remains anonymous.
Pre-candidates cannot present radio and TV programs from this Thursday
As of this Thursday (30), radio and television stations are prohibited from broadcasting programs presented or commented on by pre-candidates for this year’s elections. The rule is part of the Electoral Calendar established by the TSE in January.
The Court establishes a fine of up to BRL 100,000 in case of non-compliance with the determination. The pre-candidate may still have the registration of their candidacy cancelled.
From next Saturday (2), exactly three months before the first round, new restrictions come into effect.
