Danny DeVito is keen to return to Gotham City as Oswald Cobblepot, better known as The Penguin. The actor spoke to the magazine Forbes about writing a new comic for DC about The Penguin and Catwoman, as well as the idea of returning to play the dark villain of Batman Returns.
The issue arose after it was reported that Michael Keaton will reprise Bruce Wayne, as he did in the Tim Burton-directed tape, in The Flash with Ezra Miller. Additionally, DeVito shared his take on Colin Farrell playing the same villain as him in the long-awaited The Batman with Robert Pattinson.
I think it is not ruled out that The Penguin will return one day. But this is all up to Tim, whether or not he wants to do it again. I say it may be an option because we are not dead yet. We could do a continuation of what we did in the past because that was a brilliant movie. They gave me that opportunity and I am very grateful for it. Now what they’re doing in the new movie, all I can say is that I love Colin Farrell. He is one of my favorite actors. I can not wait!
A few days ago, DeVito re-engaged with the world of DC Comics by writing a new story titled Bird Cat Love, about a romance between El Pingüino and Gatúbela, which will be part of an anthology book called Gotham City Villains.
The 77-year-old actor confessed that he has been a huge fan of comics since he was a child, so he immediately accepted the opportunity to collaborate on the project. The idea of the romantic story between the villain and Selina Kyle occurred to him almost immediately and even Michelle Pfeiffer, who played it in the film, was delighted with the news.
I was very excited when I told him. Dan Mora was in charge of creating the images, his work is simply incredible. I feel blessed to have been able to collaborate with them and the way it all happened. Could not be happier.
