Darwin Filho, CEO of Esportes da Sorte, will present himself to the police, says defense

Darwin Henrique da Silva Filho, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Esportes da Sorte group, will present himself to the police authorities. The company is being investigated for involvement in money laundering and illegal gambling.

The information was confirmed to CNN this Thursday (5) by Darwin’s lawyer, Ademar Rigueira Neto.

The police operation, which investigated the group, resulted in the arrest of influencer Deolane Bezerra, her mother and eight other people. According to the police, the scheme would have moved R$3 billion from illegal gambling.

In a note to CNN Esportes da Sorte stated that it has not yet had access to the court decision that authorized the search and seizure at its headquarters and highlighted that it remains at the disposal of the authorities.

19 arrest warrants and 24 search and seizure warrants were issued against suspects involved in the scheme, all issued by the 12th Criminal Court of the District of Recife.

Arrest of Deolane Bezerra

After a custody hearing held late morning this Thursday (5), the Pernambuco Court decided to keep lawyer and influencer Deolane Bezerra in preventive detention.

Deolane’s mother, Solange Alves Bezerra, also had her arrest upheld after the hearing.

The session was held via videoconference from the Recife Women’s Penal Colony, where both will remain detained.

Mother and daughter were arrested by the civil police yesterday morning (4), at the family home, located in the south of the capital of Pernambuco.

This morning, Deolane’s fans were at the prison door with posters in support of the lawyer.
