Qualcomm introduced the next top-end modem – Snapdragon X70 5G.
According to a press release, the novelty is the first in the world to receive a 5G artificial intelligence processor in a modem RF system. Simply put, the Snapdragon X70 5G has its own AI block, and it’s the first time this has been implemented for a mobile cellular modem.
This block is called Qualcomm 5G AI Suite. It is used to optimize sub-6 GHz and mmWave links for faster speeds, better coverage, lower latency, better link reliability and power efficiency.
Qualcomm also says the Snapdragon X70 5G is the world’s only end-to-end 5G modem/RF system family capable of supporting any commercial 5G band from 600MHz to 41GHz.
As for the data transfer rate, it has grown to an incredible 10 Gb / s. True, as usual, the real speeds that smartphones with such a modem will operate with will be very far from the maximum values.
Snapdragon X70 client samples are expected to arrive in the second half of this year, with commercial mobile devices expected by the end of the year.
