Dated a Stranger and Almost Died – The ‘kiss of death’ experienced by 5% of people

A woman came one step before she died, after one appointment who dated an unknown man after experiencing “kiss of death” which occurs in 5% of people, resulting in severe allergic reaction.

According to nypost.comthe 27-year-old Janelle Gonzalez in a video she uploaded to TikTok that has garnered more than 827,000 views, she recounts her story, with several users left stunned and others sharing similar incidents.

So the TikToker mentioned that went out on a date with a man one night with which they kissed and when he woke up the next day, he felt extremely bad. Specifically, her lips were swollenwhile he felt like he couldn’t breathe.

Distraught, she tried to think what had happened to her, as the marks resembled her reaction to shellfish, to which she is allergic. However, he hadn’t eaten, nor any other seafood, so slowly ruling out various scenarios, he decided to contact the man who had come out.

Then, he told her that just before they went out, he had eaten seafood and to be precise shrimp fried rice. So she figured out why she was so messed up that she almost died, with herself humorously noting “it’s not safe to date guys anymore. You have to watch your back.”

The term “kiss of death” is a rare case used to describe the fact that a person has an allergic reaction, through kissing, where they come into contact with items that they are allergic to.

Allergist Dr. Scott Sicherer states that according to studies, approx 5% with marginal 12% of humans, can experience an allergic reaction through kissing, where again there is little chance of a serious episode.

“Any substance that causes an allergic reaction is called an allergen. For some people, even minimal exposure to trace amounts of an allergen can cause a severe reaction“, it says characteristically Medical News Today.
