This Wednesday (24), David Gilmour shared that it will launch a new album after nine years . Titled as “Luck and Strange” the album will have nine songs and will be available on music platforms on September 6th.
The information was shared on social media and on the former Pink Floyd singer's official website, where he also shares what the album cover will be and reports that most of the album's lyrics were composed by Polly Samson his co-author, wife and collaborator for the past thirty years.
In the text shared on his website, the guitarist's wife also reveals details of the compositions and says about the lyrical themes covered in “Luck and Strange”: “It was written from the point of view of being older; mortality is the constant.”
Gilmour complements and offers more details about the new production: “We spent a lot of time during and after the lockdown (due to Covid-19) talking and thinking about this kind of thing.”
In addition to eight new songs, the tracklist The album will feature a cover version of “Between Two Points” by the Montgolfier Brothers, which will be sung alongside his daughter, Romany Gilmour. Check it out below:
