Da'Vine Joy Randolph assured that she will not “change” as a person now that she has won an Oscar.
The 37-year-old actress ended a hugely successful awards season with a flourish by winning the statuette for Best Supporting Actress for 'The Rejected' at the ceremony that took place last Sunday (10).
Although she hopes to “leave a legacy” and create work that “impacts” people, the star does not anticipate her victory affecting her essence.
“There is none. There's a trophy in my house now, but I'm no different. You can't come from Philadelphia and be transformed; they won't allow it. This will be who I am'', reflected the star.
“The papers will improve, the money will improve, the texts will improve. I hope to leave a legacy and a mark with this career. I hope my work is meaningful and is something that people of all shapes, sizes, colors, beliefs, and genders can connect with. But me and my soul will not change”, he assured.
Da'Vine is eager to embrace the opportunities that come her way.
“I feel grateful. I feel seen. I feel loved. I feel respected. I feel like the time and work I put in is important. I feel excited about the future,'' she celebrated.
“Coming from a reality with few resources, imagine when you achieve something great: it's exciting. Having access and being a black woman is very important,” she added.
