The World Economic Forum in Davos, which was scheduled to take place in January, has been postponed until mid-2022, organizers announced.
The event, a meeting point for world business and political leaders, was postponed amid continuing uncertainty about the Omicron mutation, organizers said, adding that the meeting was now scheduled “for early summer”.
“The current conditions of the pandemic make it difficult to hold such a global face-to-face meeting. The preparations have been led by experts and have benefited from the close cooperation of the Swiss government at all levels,” the Forum website said.
“Despite the strict health protocols of the meeting, Omicron’s contagion and its impact on travel and mobility have necessitated its postponement.”
