Davos welcomes journalists with notebook, pencil and rapid Covid test

Big events usually receive journalists with some pampering to help with the work of the press. Notepad, pen and paper with event details are some of the most common items in press kits around the world. At the first World Economic Forum after the pandemic, it is no different. Journalists in Davos, however, received a new item: a rapid test kit for Covid-19.

With the number of cases still high in several countries, the Forum prepared a strict disease control scheme. All participants are required to take a Covid test every 24 hours. And as the hours pass and the limit approaches, the Forum reminds you of the requirement via email or text message.

There are three large testing centers in Davos – all from the event. The participant enters, registers the entry with the electronic badge and the test is done quickly by a large team of technicians and nurses. There is no queue. If the result is negative, life continues for the next 24 hours.

But, if the test is not done or the result is positive, the credential is immediately blocked and the participant cannot participate in the Forum unless he presents a new test – and negative.

For those who were unlucky enough to receive a positive result, the quick test can be very useful to know whether or not the disease continues. The problem is that the result is not accepted by the Forum, and, in this case, it is necessary to take the official test again with the event’s nurses.
