Three patients breathed their last on Tuesday (30/5) in the early hours after fire in hospital in Austria due to which approximately 90 patients were removed from the building.
As stated by a representative of the hospital located in Medling, south of Vienna. “The cause of the tragedy has not yet been determined with certainty.”.
Fires of this kind are noted to be very rare in this rich country of 9 million inhabitants.
The fire broke out around 1:00 local time (2:00 Greek time) in a room of the nursing center and spread quickly, according to a statement from the regional Health Service.
The fire department dispatched 33 vehicles and approximately 170 firefighters. A Red Cross team also rushed to the spot.
The fire, according to the Athens News Agency, was brought under control after two hours and the patients who had been evacuated were transferred to other nursing institutions.
