In an internet campaign, relatives and friends of digital influencer Jesse Koz from Santa Catarina managed to raise around R$120,000 to transfer his body from the United States to Brazil.
Koz died in a car accident last Monday (23), along with his dog Shurastey, a 6-year-old golden retriever.
The dog’s body must be cremated and the ashes sent to Brazil along with the body of its owner. Born in Balneário Camboriú, on the coast of Santa Catarina, Koz should be buried in his hometown.
Information about transfer and wake has not yet been released by the family.
Accident
Koz and Shurastey traveled in a converted 1978 Beetle, which even had a roof tent. They were on their way to the US state of Alaska when they suffered a serious collision with another vehicle in the state of Oregon.
According to information from the local press, the Brazilian tried to avoid a traffic jam, but ended up colliding with a vehicle coming in the opposite direction.
The driver of the other car had minor injuries, but Koz and Shurastey couldn’t resist. Images of the accident published in the US press show the beetle completely destroyed.
The influencer, who was 29 years old, shared his journey and that of his dog and faithful companion on social media, where he accumulated thousands of followers.
Koz has been traveling since 2017 in his Volkswagen Beetle and has traveled to more than 15 countries in the Americas.
