Dead old man swept away by torrent in Italy

The body of an 85-year-old man has been recovered by firemen in northern Italy, who was earlier swept away by a torrent in Emilia Romagna. The victim had been missing since the early hours of Tuesday morning. According to the information so far, as soon as he left his house he was swept away by the rapids and was unable to save himself. From Modena to Piacenza, authorities in Emilia Romagna remain on high alert due to the risk of rivers and streams overflowing. At the same time, the Veneto region is also hit by a wave of bad weather, with much heavier rainfall compared to the recent past. In the Castelfranco Veneto region, the Avenale river broke its dams, flooding the central square, several main streets and single-story houses. Last May, Castelfranco was heavily damaged by a wave of bad weather that also caused the Avenale to overflow. Source: RES
