Deadly attack in Tel Aviv: The perpetrator dead after hours of manhunt

Israeli security forces killed the alleged perpetrator a deadly attack on the previous one in the center of the Tel Aviv metropolis after a manhunt that lasted hours. “The terrorist who carried out the attack in Tel Aviv yesterday has been located and neutralized,” officials said, adding that the man, a Palestinian from the occupied West Bank, had been killed near a mosque in Jaffa.

“After a difficult night, and after many hours of work by the Israeli police, internal security services and the army, we managed in the morning (…) to tighten the noose around the terrorist, who was killed in an exchange of fire,” he said in a statement. Press published by its head Israeli Yaakov Sabtai police, clarified that no police officer was injured in the operation.

Security forces did not reveal the identity of the perpetrator of the attack, in which at least two people were killed and about ten others were injured last night in the center of Tel Aviv. According to Israeli media, his name was Wright Hazem and he came from Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Last week, the Israeli army carried out a series of raids in the area, from which the perpetrator of a previous attack with five deadbetween two Ukrainians and an Israeli Arab policeman, in Bnei Brack, a community of ultra-Orthodox Jews, a suburb of Tel Aviv, as reported by international agencies and the Athenian News Agency.

Three fighters of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the second strongest Palestinian Islamist militant movement after Hamas, were killed in exchange of fire during the raids. Last night, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad “welcomed” the attack on Tel Aviv.
