“Deadpool & Wolverine”: Hugh Jackman accepted role without consulting manager

Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as the “X-Men” superhero who was killed in 2017’s “Logan.”

The iconic star, 55, who will star opposite Ryan Reynolds in one of the most anticipated crossovers by fans, recalled that he accepted the role before even consulting his agent.

In an interview with Fandango, the heartthrob explained that he was driving when Ryan, 47, called to make the proposal. “I called Ryan back. And I just said, 'Let's do it,'” he said.

“Like, I hadn't called my agent, nobody. Then I had to call him and say, 'Oh, by the way, I just committed to a movie,'” he joked.

Jackman described the decision as a feeling “deep in his gut,” even though he genuinely hoped to never play Wolverine again after his last film seven years ago.

“I was on my way, I was just driving, and literally, like a bolt of lightning, there was this deep certainty in my intuition that I wanted to make this film with Ryan,” he said.

“For Deadpool and Wolverine to get back together. I swear to you, when I said it was over, I really thought it was over,'' he said.

“But in the back of my mind, ever since I saw Deadpool 1, I was thinking, 'These two characters together.' I knew the fans wanted this since I got the claws, people were talking about these two. So, the possibility was always in the air”, he highlighted.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige wasn't as enthusiastic about the idea and even advised Hugh to stay away from the character after his farewell.

“I said, 'Let me give you some advice, Hugh. Do not come back.' You had the best ending in history with 'Logan.' This is not something we should undo,'” Kevin revealed to Empire magazine.
