Deaf-mute man cries with joy as he saves his dog from a fire

An image says more than a thousand words. That is the phrase with which we would describe the story of Mario Méndez, a 56-year-old deaf-mute man who lost his house and vehicle in a fierce fire, but who, despite everything, gave infinite thanks for recovering what he loves so much: your dog.

His story went viral on networks by moving hearts and creating a chain of help with the intention that he and his four-legged friend recover their home as soon as possible.

The fire threatened to take everything away

Mario is deaf-mute and lives alone. His neighbors know him very well, which is why they called the fire department when they saw that his house was on fire. Upon arrival, they found a heartbreaking scene: Mario asked for help to save his best friend and tried to put out the fire with a hose.

At that time, everyone expected the worst, but as if it were a miracle, one of the firefighters came out of the flames carrying the puppy, which upon seeing Mario jumped straight into his arms, giving the world a moving image, captured by photographer Jonathan Bobadilla.

Early this morning, Mario, 56, who is deaf and mute, lost his house and vehicle in a fire caused by a short circuit.

He signaled to the firefighters that the only thing he cared about was his dog, to bring him out alive. In desperation, he himself tried to put out the fire with a hose, when suddenly out of the raging flames, a fireman came out and handed him his pet. Mario knelt down and cried with joy without caring about his house or his vehicle. He lives alone and is dedicated to selling car glasses in Virreyes, Mexicali, Mexico.

A chain of love

Those images showed Mario’s purity and the love he has for his pet. In addition, they showed that there are still good people in the world, because in a matter of hours, some organized raffles to raise funds, while others brought clothing and non-perishable food to the place.

Keila Méndez, Mario’s daughter, thanked her for all the love and help her father received. In addition, he created a GoFundMe account for those who can help with financial donations, since at the moment what is urgent is to rebuild his father’s home.

On the other hand, Mario does not lose his smile. He tries to see the good side to the situation and is grateful to be alive and especially, for having his best friend by his side.
