Dear energy, that’s how much your bills have gone up

These days they have arrived in the homes of the Italians first bills daughters of expensive energy and the difference has been seen. For heating, there are those who saw last year’s 116 euros become 300 for a two-month period. If companies and municipalities had already seen the first increases or had at least hypothesized them, families are now experiencing first-hand how expensive it will be to use electricity and gas.

Arera, the Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment, had announced at the end of the year a 55% increase for gas and 41.8% for electricity. In the bill, figures have almost doubled in this first two months which is the one of greatest use of heating. The same body calculated a 131% increase in electricity in 2022 compared to the same period in 2021 for domestic customers, going from 20.06 to 46.03 euro cents / kWh and 94% for natural gas.

The CGIA of Mestre has estimated a cost increase of 89.7 billion this year for energy. For a family, the estimated increase exceeds 1100 euros, that would be almost 80% more in a year, and there is a consequent cut in expenses. For companies, it reaches the limit of having to stop production in order not to work at a loss not only for direct costs, but also for those related to transport.

The solutions put in place for now do not cover the increases. Bonuses for 3 million low-income families and the payment of bills have started. The bonuses arrive directly in the bill since last year for those with an Isee of less than 8265 euros per year or 20 thousand for households with more than three children or who receive citizenship income. The government announced an intervention to cut bills between 5 and 7 billion, without budget variances, aimed above all at companies for the second quarter of the year.

According to the European Union survey of cooperatives, almost 1 in 5 companies has decided to invest in energy saving and low environmental impact systems. The way is that of thermal insulation, but also of gods photovoltaic panels and water saving systems. It seems impossible to find the almost 90 billion euros to compensate for the expensive energy and the resumption of gas extraction in Italy takes a long time.

The international situation is also a factor. The escalation between Russia and Ukraine has led to continuous increases in the price of gas now over 100 euros per megawatt hour, but is now falling. It also counts the fact that new supplies are arriving from different parts of the world and the arrival of the less cold season.

KRUK Italy, credit expert, has carried out a survey to understand how Italians look for useful behavior to save. They are careful to turn off the TV and PC when they are not in use (56%) and are willing to lower the temperatures in the house in the winter. Instead, they say no when the home router is turned off at night and do not defrost the fridge and freezer every 3 months.
