Death of Giovanna Pedretti, investigators are looking for the customer who wrote the review

Receipts, booking book, images taken by the camera surveillance: to trace the customer of Giovanna Pedretti's pizzeria who wrote a review against homosexuals and disabled people present in the restaurant, every element becomes important.

The investigators are trying to identify the author of the writing to shed light on a story that proved confusing and controversial from the beginning, from the moment an offensive review – like there are many – and its reply, published by Pedretti on the pizzeria's Facebook page Le Vignolethey were inexplicably considered news and taken up by many newspapers.

It is then that qsome began to doubt the authenticity of the writing, accusing the restaurateur of having invented the malicious comment to gain publicity. Giovanna Pedretti, well known and integrated into the small community of 13 thousand inhabitants of Sant'Angelo Lodigiano, has jumped into the center of media attention despite herself.

Interviewed by the police as a person informed of the facts – the author of the review could be accused of inciting racial hatred -, the 59-year-old appeared tense, exhausted and apprehensive. The investigators also want to trace the device used to publish the review and carry out Google checks, but it will take time to reach a conclusion.

The same evening, Giovanna Pedretti had worked in her restaurant and, after it closed, she returned home with her husband Nello, and complained about the controversy over the review: she didn't want to be seen as a profiteer. When her husband went to bed, the woman left in her Fiat Panda. The man didn't worry, because it happened that, to overcome insomnia, she walked alone in the countryside at night. This time, however, he attempted to take his own life with a razor blade, then she went down into the Lambro, and let herself die like that. Giovanna Pedretti is died from drowning in those icy waters, as emerges from the first findings of the autopsy on the woman's body. Full results are expected next week.
