Death of Jô Soares, drop in diesel prices and more than 5 August

The death of comedian and writer Jô Soares, aged 84, in São Paulo, and the deadline for parties to hold their respective conventions and define their candidates for the October elections are among the highlights of this Friday (5).

Comedian and writer Jô Soares dies at 84

The writer and comedian Jô Soares died in the early hours of this Friday (5), at the age of 84. He was hospitalized at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo, according to his advice. The cause of death has not yet been released.

“Patient Jô Soares died today, August 5, at 2:20 am, in Sírio-Libanês. in Sao Paulo. He had been hospitalized since July 28 at the hospital, where he was accompanied by the institution’s clinical staff,” wrote the comedian’s advice, together with the hospital.

Jô’s funeral and wake will be reserved for family and friends.

Conventions end this Friday, and parties have ten days to register candidates

The deadline for the parties to hold their respective conventions and define their candidates for the October elections ends this Friday (5). The nomination period began on July 20.

As of Saturday (6), the acronyms will have until August 15 to register their candidacies at the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

Parties must submit authorization from the affiliate to include his name as a candidate and proof of party affiliation.

It is also necessary to present a declaration of assets, copy of the electoral certificate, electoral discharge certificate, criminal certificates from the Justice (Electoral, Federal and State), photograph of the candidate and, for candidates for Executive Power positions, the proposals defended.

Lower value for diesel sold by Petrobras goes into effect this Friday (5)

As of this Friday (5th), the reduction in the average price of diesel sales to distributors, announced by Petrobras on Thursday (4th), will take effect.

The average price dropped by R$0.20 per liter, from R$5.61 to R$5.41.

In a note released on Thursday, the state-owned company informed that the reduction follows the evolution of reference prices, which have stabilized at a lower level for diesel.
